Window Sash Weights
Window Chains
When you are in charge of a restoration project for a historic building, you have to be particular about the details. Not just any old hardware will do.
That’s why Architectural Resource Center offers an infinite range of hardware for the windows and doors in your project.
Infinite?
Absolutely. We can say that because we are one of the only providers of architectural hardware that offers you everything from off-the-shelf units to complete custom forgings engineered and fabricated to meet your performance and design specifications.
We can even reproduce original hardware and then improve it to meet modern performance requirements. The possibilities are endless.
No matter what your job calls for, we can do it.
For example, let’s look at our Sash Pulleys.
Sash Pulleys are unsung heroes of architecture. Year after year, decade after decade they quietly and efficiently produce the mechanical advantage that enables ordinary people to open enormously heavy windows. Without the help of this very simple device, ventilation in many buildings and offices would be extremely difficult — if not impossible.
Not to mention that we expect these little workhorses to do their job just about forever. It may be a good century or more before funds are available to refurbish windows in many of our most important public buildings. They have to work, and keep on working, far into the future. Therefore, the lowly sash pulley is no place to cut corners.
Fortunately, when you work with Architectural Resource Center, you won’t have to.
Most of our competitors create their pulleys by cutting sheet metal and bending it into shape to create the housing for the pulley wheel. This produces an inexpensive product that is excellent for meeting tight budget requirements. ARC Pulleys are designed to meet or exceed performance requirements for demanding applications — but will also meet your budget.
Other competitors will use a sand cast technique to increase strength while keeping manufacturing time short. While these heavier units are an improvement over the twisted sheet metal, they still cannot carry the load of an ARC Pulley.
ARC uses 3 engineering improvements to build exceptional structural strength into our pulleys.
Forged Metal — Forging is a multi-step process that imparts greater strength than casting or stamping. While forging takes a little longer and requires more time than casting, we find that the resulting product is more suited for long-term performance under stress.
Ball Bearing axle — Ball bearings operate more smoothly using less force than plain bearings. They are less likely to wear out or bind and require no maintenance or lubrication. All of this makes them perfectly suited for window hardware. Set them and forget them.
CNC Machined — Every ARC pulley is custom-machined at no additional cost to you. Computer Numeric Control machinery allows for greater precision in machining at a much lower cost and turnaround time. We are able to engineer each piece to the optimal tolerances that will give your product the highest and best performance.
We had our pulleys tested by an independent engineering house and the results showed that our pulleys withstood 10 times the stress of our competitors.
And yet our pulleys cost the same or less than those of our competitors. Our lean manufacturing processes mean that we can produce a better product for less and pass the savings on to you. Why would you trust any other pulley to go into a window that has to perform flawlessly for the next 100 years?
Not only can we match your technical specs, but we also offer 10 different standard finish colors (as well as custom finishes) so that you can perfectly match the color of the original hardware. There is no question that we can provide exactly what you need when it comes to architectural hardware.
